#2-- What does the story The Lottery imply about human nature? Support your opinion by referring to events or characters in the story.
The story The Lottery imply that human nature tend to act as “follow the leader”. The villagers in the story just follow tradition without questioning or having a second through either if the tradition is right or wrong. On top of that people do not question tradition until it effect personally. It is then that the marked person started to scream out what is fair and what is not. Take Mrs. Tessie Hutchinson for example. Just like everyone in the village, she follows the tradition of sacrificing someone by stoning people to death every year in hoping to have lots of corns for the upcoming year. She never asks any question until it was she who got pick to stone to death. It was then that she started to scream out that it is not right and it is not fair. It is this very evidence that show that how human tend not to care about tradition or the everyday event until it affect them personally.

Yes, I agree with you. I think this is especially true of politicians and lawmakers. It seems that we read so many news stories abaout politicians and lawmakers breaking some of the very laws that they established themselves! It drives me crazy.
